Individuals who lose employer-provided health insurance coverage generally are entitled to continue their coverage for a specified time under COBRA laws. The following provides help with COBRA.

| Your ex-employer |
Your ex-employer is generally the first person you should contact regarding health insurance questions. For example, if you are terminated and the plan is subject to COBRA, the plan is required to send you a COBRA notice which details your options.
Note, however, that there are certain events in which you must notify the plan even if you, as the employee, dont lose coverage (i.e., children ceasing to be dependents, divorce). |
| State Laws |
Many States have laws that may provide better-than COBRA required benefits. Check with your State Insurance Commissioner. |
| Health Insurance Provider |
If your ex-employers plan was insured (benefits provided through an Insurance company), the Health Insurance Provider may be able to provide answers to your specific questions. Provider numbers can generally be found on your health insurance card or through the phone book. |
